What Do You Do When You Need Strength?
Hello everyone and welcome to the Gospel Sisters blog. This blog will post about God and the gospel. Hopefully, this blog will help either build your connection with God or strengthen it, which leads to today’s topic. Strength.
Strength does not come easily. Now, when one says “strength”, the mind may think of physical power. Although it is an example, this time, it is not the case. There are many ways we can be strong.
While David’s life was in danger, Saul had sent men to “watch his home”, when sent to murder him. He ends up surrounded by uncertainty, ‘adversaries, rebels, messy stunts, hit men, desperadoes trap… they’re after me, resolved to get me.’ However, despite all this, David asks the Lord to salvage him. David has trust that God can and will convey him.
Later, David calls to God twice: ‘O my strength’ multiple times. David can also say that he did not deserve this and question God’s plan. David was not perfect. No matter the case, there are times where you will face challenges in life.
These challenges are not because you are doing something wrong. It is because you are doing something right.
2 Corinthians 5:7 “for we walk by faith, not by sight.”
Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified by Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
We end today’s post with a guide on how to help you ask for God's strength or help.
1. Admit/Acknowledge that you can do nothing.
2. Pray for God's help with your task.
3. Trust a particular promise of God's help.
4. Act.
5. Thank God for the help received.
Keep in mind when asking for his help that God already has a set plan for you. Whatever he chooses will in the end lead to the outcome he is comfortable with.
